It’s Valentines Babyyyy… Let’s get sexy!

Love is in the air…. love is in the air…. (singing John Paul Young)

When you think of Valentine’s day you think of love, sex, roses, gifts and everything red! right? I personally isn’t crazy about the color red, but it’s valentine’s and everything is always so pretty and sexy so I let it slide. I still ask my fiance not to be buy me red roses though, pink or white would still do the trick ;)

My fair Ladies…. and Gentlemen, I bring thee a few little tit bits of how to make your Valentine’s Day really cute and sexy. Thank me later! lol

Ladies here’s something sexy to really blow his sucks off, it’s a little on the pricey side but you can use it for inspiration. If Red is your thing, spice it up with something more edgy, intriguing and meeeow! Try this Agent Provocateur Alina Red Set, it comes with a babydoll dress too :) Click here to shop on their site http://www.agentprovocateur.com/red.html

If you want to go the Fuschia/Pink look why not try this gorgeous Valentine set from Bordelle. I’m a Bordelle addict, it’s sexy, edgy and just screams Grab Me Beybehhh!!!!! Raaaarrrhhhhh… lol.And if you really want to go all out, try their Gold Leather Bow Nipplets, you can wear it with or without their Open Bra. So sexy! Guys you can buy this as a gift for woman to wear for you ;)

If red, fushia or nipplets ain’t your thing you can try burgundy. Here’s another sexy lingerie from Agent Provocateur

And my last choice on lingerie, one of my personal favorite designer Nichole De Carle. If you don’t want to be caught up in the cliche’ Valentine color theme, you can go for this classic cream and black ONYX Bodysuit. I personally have one and it’s just so sexy ;)

Of course what is a Beauty Blog without beauty products, and you know I always got your back. Now this is for the Men, you don’t have to break the bank to get your lady a beautiful gift for Valentines Day. You can’t go wrong with a beautiful gift set of products, it’s simple, classy and we always love beauty products! Try this special Valentines Day “I Love You” gift set by Victoria Secret or this Ann Summers sexy Candy Set that both of you can enjoy (okay its not a beauty product but it has chocolate body paint *wink)

And if you want to cut out the whole buying gifts shebang, I guess a simple lovely dinner and a lovely cozy evening together will just be good enough. I think a lot of people get carried away with the whole Valentines thing and forget the true meaning of what it’s meant to be. For me, honestly I could care less but if I really must… well, it would be just having a lovely quiet day with my partner, stay in bed all day, have champagne, eat, maybe light a candle and just have a lovely day.

New Year, New You, New Trends… All things bright and beautiful :)

Happy New Year Darlings!

This is my first post this year, I am actually excited! How are you my beauty lovers? I missed you all. I’ve been busy doing a lot of re-branding, business blabla…  Anyways I am here now with a lot of goodies for you ladies :)

So it’s 2012 a new year, what’s your new year’s beauty resolution? Get a new hair cut? Moisturize more? Change products? What ever it is make sure it’s all bright and beautiful, colors, colors and more colors!

I have been doing a little research (more of my daily ritual of beauty site browsing) and what I can tell you is, this year in beauty and fashion is a year of all things clean, fresh, vibrant and the bright colors from last year just gets brighter and bolder. From the runways to the editorial mags we clearly see a lot of clean dewy skin, bright colored matte lipsticks, groomed thicker eye brows, sleek wet hair or full bouncy 60′s locks, Let’s just say we’re all going to be pretty lovely ladies. As said in Harper’s Bazaar’s “Pair vintage with modern to make a statement that’s unique and all your own this season”. It’s all about softening up a bit and I am loving it!

Okay let’s start from the beginning to achieve the look. SKIN (Face)

I can not emphasize any more on how important it is to keep your skin healthy. And this year having a fresh glowing skin is the main look. From the runway to the red carpets, The facial make up is luminous and even-toned. It is all about looking clean, fresh, dewy (not sweaty), light rosey cheeks, less foundation and more bronzer. The main goal is to look fresh, clean, glowing and simple, because the rest of the make-up is going to be slightly bolder like the lipsticks and eye liners.

LIPS: Ladies you’re gonna love this! This year spring/summer you can go crazy with all the colors of the rainbow, go pink, orange, purple, berry reds, even blue if you can pull it off lol, just keep it matte and not glossy. These are very rich bright colors that emphasize your lips so really you don’t need to add more shiny liquid gloss, plus the look here is more of old fashioned 50′s/60′s look. We don’t want to scare off men from kissing us now, do we? *wink*

EYES: The flick is back! Think Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot, Marilyn Monroe, In fact like I said earlier we’re going back to the 50′s rich sexy housewife look this year. So it’s all about the thick black liner with an upward flick at the outer corners of the eyes, or you can get playful and use colored liners like mustard yellow, purple, pastel blue or green. Also, you can double the lines for a more dramatic look. it’s all about the “Cat Eyes”.
BROWS: No more thinning and lining your brows ladies, let ‘em grow out a bit more to give your face a more powerful defined frame. Remember it is not bushy but well groomed, darkened with powder pigment, brushed up, and shaped with a dramatic arch.
HAIR: I know this is my Nigerian girls favorite, Lol. I don’t even know were to begin from on this topic. This year there’s a lot to do with your hair and best of all you can go as vavavoom as you want but not crazy please. And the best of all, colors! Yes colors just like your lipstick and pastel eyeshadows you can have colorful strikes in your hair, try not to look like a silly teenager though it has to be minimal and stylish not clownish. Here’s some of the styles rocking the fashion scene.

French Side Ponytail                                    Elegant frizzy pouf

Messy Hair: Wrap it into a bun, pack it up or just let it down, however you want it just keep it a bit loose and messy. Like I said it’s all about the vintage classy yet lil bohemian look, it’s free, sexy and sultry. You can add little french fish braids or tiny hair bands to accessorize.

I’ll leave more of the 2012 hair style trend for another day, so I can go into hair colors briefly. Again no restrictions here go bold and bright, multi-tonal and maybe even futuristic if that’s your style. The most popular would have to be the different shades of red, copper, blonde, brown with highlights and colorful strikes like purple and green.

Well the best way to explain this new 2012 colorful trend are models Chanel Iman and Luisa Bianchin for L’Official Paris Magazine. From the hair to the clothes and nail polish, it’s all about the vintage classy colorful inspiration. I like to think of it as what the glamorous women in the 50′s would look like on holiday in Havana, Cuba. Lol.

Good night my darlings!

Love always,

Sarah.

Know Your ABC’s To Your STD’s.

Hello Everyone, how have you all been? I know am like the worst blogger ever! I have not updated since my birthday, can you imagine? I am terribly ashamed. With that said, let me get on to my topic of the week.. or month, seeing as I might be slow updating hahaha.

So what do I mean know your Abc’s to your STD’s? Well, as they say beauty is from within not just on the surface. My blog is a Beauty and Lifestyle, meaning from the Glitz and Glam to Educating and Inspiring.

Some weeks ago it came to my attention that even at this day and age we are still very unaware of the risks of unprotected sex. I think people still take it for granted, they might just think about HIV/AIDS and not the other numerous diseases you can get, some curable and others not just like AIDS. What triggered me to write this blog? Well, some weeks ago I got a very disturbing blackberry broadcast with a picture of a lady’s Vagina that was highly infected by Genital Warts. But the message that came along with the picture was that this poor lady had slept with a “Politician” and he used her Genitalia for “JAZZ” (voodoo, juju etc). No please do not laugh! I found this very offensive and highly irritated that at this day and age 2011 people would actually say that. Are you kidding me? this story actually went on to blogs and websites, what a rubbish story!

How many times in school did you get that lecture? How many times do the health sectors hold campaigns and seminars to help educate the youths and even the older generations on sexually transmitted diseases? We thank God for even the common google! But No, it is Jazz.

I have been very lucky in my life to be surrounded by medical practitioners in my family, but most importantly I was taught from an early age that as a woman we are more prone to getting infected easily even from our surroundings and clothing, so it is important to practice safe sex and have a good personal hygiene. Now you hear about getting tested and check-ups by a Gynaecologist or just go to your Doctor or better yet go to a women’s centre. It’s not just as simple as Oh you’ve had unprotected sex so you’ll pop the “morning after pill”. What about going to get a smear test to see if the person has infected you with something even as simple as thrush. I have gone as far as getting a professional advice for we all.  I contacted a good friend of my Mum, Dr Anne Francis, from The Innovative Medical Services, Warri.  To talk about this so called “jazz” disease.

Hello Everyone, Sarah has already introduced us so I will skip that part and go ahead with explaining a few things to you all about Human Papillomaviruses (HPVs) and Genital Warts.

First all, What is STD? It simply means Sexually Transmitted Disease. These are infections that can be transferred from one person to another through any type of sexual contact. STDs are sometimes referred to as Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) since they involve the transmission of a disease-causing organism from one person to another during sexual activity. It is important to realize that sexual contact includes more than just sexual intercourse (vaginal and anal). Sexual contact includes kissing, oral-genital contact, and the use of sexual “toys,” such as vibrators. STDs probably have been around for thousands of years, but the most dangerous of these conditions, the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), has only been recognized since 1984.

Many STDs are treatable, but effective cures are lacking for others, such as HIV, HPV, and hepatitis B and C. Even gonorrhea, once easily cured, has become resistant to many of the older traditional antibiotics. Many STDs can be present in, and spread by, people who do not have any symptoms of the condition and have not yet been diagnosed with an STD. Therefore, public awareness and education about these infections and the methods of preventing them is important.

What are HPVs?

More than 40 types of HPV, which are the cause of genital warts (also known as condylomata acuminata or venereal warts), can infect the genital tract of men and women. These warts are primarily transmitted during sexual contact. Other, different HPV types generally cause common warts elsewhere on the body. HPV infection has long been known to be a cause of cervical cancer and other anogenital cancers in women, and it has also been linked with both anal and penile cancer in men.

HPV infection is now considered to be the most common sexually transmitted infection in the US, and it is believed that at least 75% of the reproductive-age population has been infected with sexually transmitted HPV at some point in life.

HPV infection is common and does not usually lead to the development of warts, cancers, or specific symptoms. In fact, the majority of people infected with HPV have no symptoms or lesions at all. The ultimate test to detect HPV involves identification of the genetic material (DNA) of the virus.

Of note, it has not been definitively established whether the immune system is able to permanently clear the body of an HPV infection. For this reason, it is impossible to predict exactly how common HPV infection is in the general population.

Asymptomatic (those without HPV-induced warts or lesions) people who have HPV infections are still able to spread the infections to others through sexual contact.

Diagnosis of HPV and Genital Warts.

A typical appearance of a genital lesion may prompt the physician to treat without further testing, especially in someone who has had prior outbreaks of genital warts. Genital warts usually appear as small, fleshy, raised bumps, but they can sometimes be extensive and have a cauliflower-like appearance. They may occur on any sexually-exposed area. In many cases genital warts do not cause any symptoms, but they are sometimes associated with itching, burning, or tenderness.

HPV can sometimes be suspected by changes that appear on a Pap smear, although Pap smears were not really designed to detect HPV. In the case of an abnormal Pap smear, the clinician will often do advanced testing on the material to determine if, and which kind, of HPV may be present. HPV can also be detected if a biopsy (for example, from a genital wart or from the uterine cervix) is sent to the laboratory for analysis.

Treatment of External Genital Warts.

There is no cure or treatment that can eradicate HPV infection, so the only treatment is to remove the lesions caused by the virus. Unfortunately, even removal of the warts does not necessarily prevent the spread of the virus, and genital warts frequently recur. None of the available treatments are ideal or clearly superior to others.

A treatment that can be administered by the patient is a 0.5% solution or gel of podofilox (podophyllotoxin). The medication is applied to the warts twice per day for three days followed by 4 days without treatment. Treatment should be continued up to three to four weeks or until the lesions are gone. Podofilox may also be applied every other day for a total of three weeks. Alternatively, a 5% cream of imiquimod (a substance that stimulates the body’s production of cytokines, chemicals that direct and strengthen the immune response) is likewise applied by the patient three times a week at bedtime, and then washed off with mild soap and water 6-10 hours later. The applications are repeated for up to 16 weeks or until the lesions are gone.

Only an experienced physician can perform some of the treatments for genital warts. These include, for example, placing a small amount of a 10%-25% solution of podophyllin resin on the lesions, and then, after a period of hours, washing off the podophyllin. The treatments are repeated weekly until the genital warts are gone. An 80%-90% solution of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or bichloracetic acid (BCA) can also be applied weekly by a physician to the lesions. Injection of 5-fluorouracil epinephrine gel into the lesions has also been shown to be effective in treating genital warts.

Interferon alpha, a substance that stimulates the body’s immune response, has also been used in the treatment of genital warts. Treatment regimens require injections of interferon into the lesion every other day over a period of 8 to 12 weeks.

Alternative methods include cryotherapy (freezing the genital warts with liquid nitrogen) every one to two weeks, surgical removal of the lesions, or laser surgery. Laser surgery and surgical excision both require a local or general anesthetic, depending upon the extent of the lesions.

Treatment of Precancerous changes (dysplasia) of the Cervix related to HPV Infection.

Women who have evidence of moderate to severe precancerous changes in the uterine cervix require treatment to ensure that these cells do not become invasive cancer. In this case, treatment usually involves surgical removal or destruction of the involved tissue. Conization is a procedure that removes the precancerous area of the cervix using a knife, a laser, or a procedure known as LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure, which uses an electric current passing through a thin wire that acts as a knife). Cryotherapy (freezing) or laser therapy may be used to destroy tissue areas that contain potentially precancerous changes.

What should a person do if sexually exposed to someone with Genital Warts?

Both people with HPV infection and their partners need to be counseled about the risk of spreading HPV and the appearance of the lesions. They should understand that the absence of lesions does not exclude the possibility of transmission and that condoms are not completely effective in preventing the spread of the infection. It is important to note that it is not known whether treatment decreases infectivity. Finally, female partners of men with genital warts should be reminded of the importance of regular Pap smears to screen for cervical cancer and precancerous changes in the cervix, since precancerous changes can be treated and reduce a woman’s risk of developing cervical cancer. Similarly, men should be informed of the potential risk of anal cancers, although it is not yet been determined how to best screen for or manage early anal cancer.

The HPV Vaccine.

A vaccine is available against four common HPV types associated with the development of genital warts and cervical and anogenital carcinomas. This vaccine (Gardasil) has received FDA approval for use in males and females between 9 and 26 years of age and confers immunity against HPV types 6, 11, 16 and 18. Another vaccine directed at HPV types 16 and 18, known as Cervarix, has been approved for use in females aged 10-15.

I hope I have helped you all understand a little bit more about Genital warts and HPV.

Other STD’s Include;

A- AIDS

C- CHLAMYDIA, CRABS (Pubic lice).

G- GENITAL WARTS, GONORRHEA

H- HEPATITIS, HERPES

Please practice safe sex and also ask your doctor for a Pap smear test, get checked today!

Thank you Dr Anne for your time, I hope everyone took time out to read this and get more educated. You can read more about STD’s on your own thanks to google, or contact your nearest women’s centre or your Gp.

ps: sorry I couldn’t put up pics as it’s a sensitive topic.

Love always,

Sarah.

My Birthday Beauty Wish List :)

Hello Darlings,

I’m back home in London Yayyyyyyy… now I can blog every sunday again, whew! thank God!

Meanwhile today am blogging about something really special, MY BIRTHDAY! Yaaaayyyyyyy whoop whoop! In exactly 4 days from now is my birthday, sat 22nd. I’ve never really done anything on my birthdays, as a child my birthdays were usually in school. So this year I want to do something nice, I just want to have fun regardless of whatever I do, but for now here is my birthday wish list. Every year I make a wish list of random stuff.. lol.

As this is a beauty blog, these are my beauty related wishes. Get ur cash/cards out people! hehehehe… Counting down…

No 10: HairPro Luxor Laser Hair Brush, by Viatek.

This little brush is actually a laser technology brush that revives hair and makes it thicker and healthier. This brush costs a whopping $1000.  The technology that this brush uses is a lot like the laser technology used by hair salons to straighten and lock in keratin to improve hair growth, so if you think of it you could be saving money from the monthly salon visits ;)

No 9: Mason Pearson.Talking of brushes, I’ve always wanted this Mason Pearson hair brush. It’s like the king of brushes lol. Made of boar-bristle, the Mason Pearson handmade brush costs about 50 pounds. The bristles massage the scalp and redistribute natural oils, which helps with split ends and damaged cuticles. Thats a huge saving compared to the above brush hahaha…

No 8: “The Cream” by Kanebo. I have always wanted to try this cream out, I have actually written about it here on my blog in the post “most expensive beauty products”.  This beauty product by the Japanese cosmetic firm Kanebo is known for its silky texture that does wonders for the skin in no time. Precious Koishimaru silk extracts moisturize the deepest layers of the skin, saffron oil helps dermal healing, and its Moon Flower fragrance soothes the soul.

No 7: Guerlain

I want everything Guerlain, the perfumes, the cosmetics, everythingggggggg!!!!!! just bath me in Guerlain, in fact a nice day at the Guerlain Spa Paris won’t be bad :)

No6: Estee lauder  If you think I’m obsessed with Guerlain, I am even more obsessed with Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess Collection. I have the whole collecton but I wouldnt’t mind more *batting lashes*. I wasn’t too pleased when they changed the body spray to a new summer fragrance, still got it though. But I wish they would just go back to the original fragrance. PLS ESTEE LAUDER GIVE ME BACK THE ORIGINAL BRONZE GODDESS SPRAY. THANKS !

No 5: Clarisonic Plus Scrub

According to the makers, Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing Systems use a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to gently, yet thoroughly remove 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than cleansing with your hands alone, giving you a healthier, smoother, more radiant and more beautiful skin. Can’t wait to try it out!

No 4: Shu Uemura Brushes I totally need a new set of make up brushes, and nothing beats the luxurious Shu Uemura brushes. Made from a range of super-soft hair and synthetic fibres, aimed at lowering skin-irritation and giving a flawless even finish. Every glamour girls’ must have.

No 3: GO SMiLE Smile Whitening Light

The Smile Whitening Light provides the tool to perform your own customised, light-assisted teeth whitening treatments in the comfort of your home for visibly whiter teeth in just 30 minutes! Heeeehaaaaaa :)

No 2:  Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh One of the premier cosmetic doctors in Europe, Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh is an esteemed master of the delicate art of cosmetic medicine with a focus on the face and neck. Doctor to the Celebrities, models, socialites and other fortunate VIPs. I have been a great fan of his acne/breakout products for yrs now, can’t do without them. So for my birthday I would love a one on one consultation with the man himself at one of his prestigious clinics in London and Paris to cure all my skin blues.

No 1: And finally my number 1 wish product, drum roll pls……

The most expensive perfume in the world! for a whopping $215,000 for a bottle. Clive Christian’s Imperial Majesty Perfume has a unique scent which is a mixture of jasmine, cardamom, carnation, lemon, bergamot and benzoin. The bottle comes with a dazzling white diamond embedded that could be worth alone about $215,000. Due to its impressive price, only 20 bottles of Clive Christian Imperial Majesty’s were made, 10 for men and 10 for women. Now that’s a wish indeed, but hey a girl can dream right? *wink*.

Bye for now my loves, going to be busy polishing and pampering for my bday. See you all on saturday! *muah*

Love,

Sarah.

Wanna burn fat fast? Chow on these fat burners! Thank me later ;)

Did you know some of your favorite foods and spices can help you burn extra fat? Yes it can !  Try adding some of these to your daily meals and you should be on your way to a slimmer you ;)

Alfalfa Sprouts
Alfalfa sprouts is is a flowering plant in the pea family. It helps to increase metabolism. It is rich in A, B, C, and K vitamins, magnesium, iron, zinc and calcium. Use low-calorie sprouts to cut calories and load up on energy.

Broccoli: Love it or hate it, Broccoli contains a fat burning element high in fiber and carotene along with calcium and vitamin C. It can make you gassy though, but it sure will help reduce bloating. lol.

Sweet Potatoes: Nutritionists claim that sweet potatoes are some of the most revolutionary foods to lose weight with. These veggies can be digested pretty slowly, giving u a fuller feeling rather than ordinary potatoes.

Asparagus : Asparagus is filled with potassium, zinc, vitamin A, B-complex, C as well as E. It also helps to combat bloating and to eliminate the excess fluids from the organism. Sardines: Sardines are high in protein which are essential elements in a healthy diet. The omega 3s from sardines boosts the functioning of your metabolism. Fish also contains EFA’s. These are essential fatty acids, It was found that women who consume fish regularly have lower levels of a protein hormone called leptin, which is linked to a slower metabolism and obesity. You can acquire EFA’s through supplements or by eating fresh fish three to five times a week. Lose weight with the regular consumption of fish like tuna, salmon, sardines etc. Nice!

Citrus And Ginger: It is a common fact that Citrus fruits contain Vitamin C which is a protection booster for human body. Citric acid breaks down fat molecules, making them very probable to be flushed away from your body. Take a spread of citrus fruits in your diet like oranges, berries, tangerines, grapefruits and lemon.

Ginger is a vasodilator which opens up arteries and improves blood flow, providing a major boost to metabolism. Folks who eat ginger may lose as much as twenty percent more fat than their peers. I usually have a lemon n ginger tea in the morning, it not only helps digestion but it fights colds too.

Cayenne pepper.
Cayenne pepper became vogue as a weight loss food when it was published that models such and singer Beyonce rely on it to keep their body’s lean. Beyonce made the maple syrup and cayenne pepper detox popular when she lost a lot of weight for her Dreamgirls role. Cayenne pepper has a thermodynamic burn that lasts for hours after you eat. In other words, Cayenne pepper helps to speed up your metabolism. Chilli pepper also has the same effect. In fact, recent studies have revealed that adding chilli to your meals can help you lose up to 5lbs a month! I guess we Nigerians should be lucky then, cause we eat pepper with everything! lol

Cinnamon: I love cinnamon! the smell is so yummy and xmassy.  The USDA found that as little as ¼ of a teaspoon of cinnamon added to food helps your body metabolise sugar 20 times faster and lowers your blood-sugar levels. Can u believe that? Awesome!

Garlic: When you think of garlic you think of unappealing odour but Garlic works as a thermogenic in your body, thus it speeds up your metabolism and keeps your insulin levels low to maximise fat burning. I use garlic in everything I cook I think… I guess am doing good then coz I eat a lot of chilli, cinnamon, garlic, broccoli… etc. whoop whoop!

Apples & Berries: Apples and berries contain a significant amount of a substance called Pectin. Pectin has a water binding property that drowns out the fat from your cells, thus hindering your body’s ability to absorb fat. So I guess the saying should be “An apple a day keeps the fat away” ;)

And finally, not a food but very essential for the body, Water. Weight loss is largely due to loss of water, and you need to drink an adequate amount of water in order to avoid dehydration. Burning calories creates toxins, water helps in flushing them out of your body.

Good Luck My Beauty Lovers!

love,

Sarah.

Hair Trend Alert !!!!!!!!!

Hello Hello Beauty Dolls !

How have you been? I’ve been good, still eating my way through nigeria, can’t resist our fav nig foods… Yum. I’ve got something really nice for ya’ll today :)

My last post was on fall/winter make-up trends, this week I bring you looks for your hair. As summer comes to an end we transition into the gloomy winter, but that does not mean we should look gloomy too, right? Lucky are you all in Nigeria, for you can keep the summer glow and trends all year round. Though I suggest you switch it up a little, match your new edgy make up with a new sexy hair do. Get a lil edgier, try some short looks, colors, more curls, waves, you can even keep the summer fish braids going in a more funky style. Here are some looks I’ve put together from some of the latest fashion runway looks.

The Foe Short Hair Flip: You don’t need to cut your hair to get this short edgy look, I rocked it too and I loved it! pin your hair behind but in a messy lose way not too tight back and flip the front sideways.

The Sexy Waves: I think this style suits almost anyone, its simple, sexy and glam. Anytime of the day for any occasion, add a lil wavy texture and you’re good to go! I must say though, to achieve this classy sexy look keep your hair at a good medium to long length not too long though. keep it clean with just the right amount of product in it, and not big in volume. Keep it sleek and sexy, with just the right amount of movement.

The Curls: I think curls can be really sexy, not everyone can pull this style off though, coz you can easily look like a clown. I think to carry this style you have to keep it well maintained and less frizzy. It’s really good if you have a thicker fuller hair, coz after the perm or tonging it can get really scanty. You can rock an afro too for this look, a lil messy tonging should do the trick ;)

Pretty Braid: It seems like this pretty braid look is here to stay a little bit longer, and not just for summer anymore. For fall/winter its more of a side swept braid than the summer loose fish braids. Blend it in with your curls, waves or straight hair.

And there you have it, my top fall/winter hairstyles. Rock on mamacitas !

Ciao!

Sarah.

xoxo

How Dare You Call Me Fat !

Hello My Darlings,

Yes I know I have been MIA, I have been in Nigeria for 2wks now, Ok lil more than 2wks. It’s been a love hate trip so far, but one thing that has pushed my buttons are these words.. “Oh you’ve added weight”, “OMG You’re fatter”, Hey you look different did u put on some weight? “You look more matured” ROARRRRRRRRRRRR….. what’s wrong with you people? did you expect me to be skinny forever? Or hey you didn’t expect me to grow up and be “more matured”. Gosh ! People can be so rude down here.

Normally such things don’t bother me but recently I had brunch with a sweet young lady of 18yrs, and all we talked about was weight issues. She is the most adorable cutest girl I have met in a long time. Well mannered and extremely polite. When we first met I couldn’t stop admiring how adorable she was, So for her to tell me all she had been going through lately with her weight, and how people keep telling her to lose weight etc was beyond shock to me. I mean did they not see her beautiful eyes, gorgeous skin and lovely smile? She might be a little chubby but it’s not something I think she should sweat about, she’s just a teenager at the end of the day!

Well now I can truly say I understand what she has been going through. Those of us who live or school abroad, when we come back to Nigeria for holidays people forget they haven’t seen us in a long time and go straight to the physical look. Fair enough its inevitable but how about being polite? If someone added a little weight and we all know weight subjects are sensitive to people especially women, be a little considerate when mentioning it, if you must!

Now let’s come back to me, personally yes I’ll say I have added a few kilos but I won’t say am fat, and no I’m not in denial! I am 5 feet 7, I weigh 58kgs and am a size 8. do u call that fat? So I have fuller cheeks, bigger butt and a little more flesh here and there. I’m in my late twenties now and I think I look pretty damn good for almost thirty LOL…. So you can’t compare pictures of me from years back and say “ahhhh you’ve added weight o” I am a fully grown ass woman, excuse you! Ok here’s a quick pic from 2007-2010-present day…

So I say to all you beautiful bountiful curvaceous women out there, Stop letting people put you down. Don’t let yourself fall into the stress of the skinny trend. Yes you should try to keep fit and healthy, but please don’t kill yourself by being miserable and worrying because that only makes it harder. Don’t go buying the latest sliming pills and what nots. Do the most important things, have a well balanced diet, work out as you can, wear what suits/flatter your body type, do what works for you and not what works for another. Always remember that what works for another person might not work for you! embrace yourself first and the rest will fall into place.

The funny thing is I have noticed the crazy trends going on in Nigeria, The Skinny Vs The Curvy, and then those in between who want to be skinny yet with butt and boobs. lol. I’ve heard so much about weight products and other crazy stuff in the last 2wks. There’s a look going on here, its like a package every young girl seem to be striving for, it’s bring on the Green world pills, Peruvian Hair, Butt pads, Titanium whitening pills etc Pls be careful dolls, as the saying goes All that glitters isn’t gold!
